01 / WHAT IT IS

A lighter system, by design.

Driveways and walkways get a lighter exterior system than a garage floor. The goal is different: curb appeal, stain resistance, and slip-safe footing across a large, highly visible slab, not hiding years of shop use under a thick flake buildup. We typically install a stained or solid-color polyaspartic finish with a light texture, sealed under a UV-stable topcoat, rather than the full broadcast system we use in garages.

The same prep-first approach applies regardless of scope: the slab is diamond-ground, not acid-etched, and cracks are chased and repaired before any color or sealer goes down. A driveway coating that skips that step looks fine for a season and then telegraphs every crack and joint underneath it within a year or two.

The most sun-exposed slab you own.

A driveway takes direct sun for most of the day, every day, with almost no relief — it is one of the most UV-exposed surfaces on a property. It also takes hot tire rubber directly off asphalt streets that regularly exceed 150°F in summer, and repeated monsoon runoff carrying dust, debris, and standing water into every low spot and joint.

A coating or sealer without real UV stability chalks and fades within a couple of summers on a west-facing driveway. We build these systems with the same UV-stable resin family we use everywhere else on this site, because a driveway sees more total sun exposure over its life than almost any other surface we coat.

  • Stain vs. solid color

    A translucent concrete stain lets natural variation in the slab show through for a more organic look, while a solid pigmented finish gives full, even coverage and hides more of the existing concrete.

  • Light texture broadcast

    A fine texture for slip resistance underfoot and for tires in wet weather, applied more subtly than a garage flake system.

  • Color matching

    Colors can be selected to complement stucco, pavers, or roof tile already on the property for a coordinated exterior.

  • Walkway continuity

    Front walkways, side yards, and entries can be coated as one continuous system with the driveway, or finished separately in a different color to define the entry path.

01 Is a driveway coating the same as a garage floor coating?

No — driveways typically get a lighter stain-and-seal or thin-broadcast system rather than the full flake buildup used in a garage, since the goals are curb appeal and durability across a large, highly visible slab.

02 Will hot tires damage a driveway coating?

The topcoat is UV-stable and formulated for exterior heat exposure, which is the same resin family that resists hot-tire pickup in our garage systems. It is built for direct sun and hot rubber from day one.

03 Can you coat over an existing driveway stain or sealer?

Usually not directly — existing sealers and stains are ground off so the new system bonds to sound, open concrete. We inspect what is on your driveway before we quote it.

04 What if my driveway has settling or larger structural cracks?

Active structural movement is flagged before we quote, not after. Ordinary shrinkage and control-joint cracking are chased and filled as standard prep; a slab with real settlement needs that addressed separately first.
